Hello all,

My disk that holds the recordings (has the Storage Group directories) is full. All the system partitions are on another disk. What is the proper way of replacing the storage disk? The old disk has to be removed, because the case has room for two disks only.

I thought that I use the add_storage.py -script to prepare the new bigger disk first, and then dd everything from the old disk to the new one. But how to proceed so that the recordings will be found (/data/storage/disk_name will be different)?

if memory serves I believe that if the new disk in the storage group MythTV will "find" the recordings. I was able to move some from one of my disks to the other and they followed.
I would do this obviously when MythBackend isn't running so that it doesn't get confused by duplicates, and obviously don't delete the old drive until you confirmed that the new drive is working. You can add and remove drives from the Storage group in mythtv-setup.

mattbatt is correct that Myth will find the recording as long as it is in a directory that is a Storage Group.

What I would do is:
- add the new drive with add_storage.py and it will create the directories and add it to the Storage Groups.
- use empty_storage_groups.py to move the files off the old drive. You can do this manually too. The key is to make sure you move all recordings/videos/music/artwork that you want on the new drive.
- unmount the old drive and remove the old drive from the Storage Groups using mythtv-setup.
