How do people volunteer to help out with development?

Best place to start is to improve or fix something and then create an issue (http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/issues/new) with the updated PKGBUILD. If you are not familiar with a PKGBUILD take a look at both http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/wiki/ ... ES_Package & https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PKGBUILD Join us in #linhes-dev on freenode as that is where most of the dev discussion happens. We are a small team and it would be great to have some more contributors. Do you have any specific things you are thinking about working on?

I'm a software developer in my day job and I've worked on Linux builds and packaging several years ago. I saw that a new version of mythtv was released a couple days ago and I'd like to see Linhes get updated. I'm not sure how much time I can devote to another hobby, but I thought that if there was a task or two I could do, I might give it a shot.

.28 is in the testing repo but because of libs that have been updated in testing you can't just install the myth pkgs in release. You would need to update everything to testing. But there are some issues I am chasing down with how pacman is ordering the updates from release to testing.
