Post subject:  HDPVR not working

Trying to get my older LinHES install working after sitting all winter. My cable provide switched to an all digital network so that killed my HDHomerun so I deleted it from the tuners which leaves me with one HDPVR.

When I go to Watch TV I get an "All tuners are busy" message. I ssh'd to the box and it tells me that
"Tuner 7 (HDPVR) on mythtv : Tuner Error"

when I check dmesg for hdpvr it reports
Code:
[    6.841708] hdpvr 6-2:1.0: firmware version 0x1e dated Mar  7 2012 08:25:15
[    7.365173] hdpvr 6-2:1.0: device now attached to video0
[    7.365230] usbcore: registered new interface driver hdpvr

Code:
lsusb reportBus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 006 Device 002: ID 2040:4903 Hauppauge HS PVR
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0510:2008 Sejin Electron, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hubs

From Setup / Tuners it identifies the device at /dev/vstatic/hdpvr_11037371 as an HDPVR
I also hooked it up to a windows computer and it works fine there, so hardware is good.
Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot my problem from here?

My prevous HD-PVR died and I had to add a new one. To my surprise, the /dev/static/... did not detect the new one. Look for this in your dmesg output:

Code:
[    2.829392] hdpvr 4-1.5:1.0: firmware version 0x1e dated Mar  7 2012 08:25:15
[    4.056841] hdpvr 4-1.5:1.0: device now attached to video3

So, my HD-PVR is /dev/video3. Make sure you see similar and that the device file exists.

If so, I can show you how I handled creating a predictable symbolic link for mine (udev rule).

Thanks for your reply, My /dev/vstatic/hdpvr_11037371 shows that it
s linked to /dev/video0 The dmesg output is as follows
Code:
[    6.841708] hdpvr 6-2:1.0: firmware version 0x1e dated Mar  7 2012 08:25:15
[    7.365173] hdpvr 6-2:1.0: device now attached to video0
[    7.365230] usbcore: registered new interface driver hdpvr

I entered /dev/video0 as the device in the adapter configuration, it Identifies it as and HDPVR
and when it polls the location.
I tried deleting all tuners and recreated it. Still no luck.

Try recording a show first, then get Live TV working. Did you set-up a channel change script and is it working?

I recommend you record a short TV show, then dig through your backend log file and see what's happening. You may have to add some additional logging options if you don't see what you need in the log file.

Yes I the channel change script setup. When I try to schedule a program it puts a dashed line box around the program selected. But doesn't show up in the upcoming recordings.

Seems to me I have seen this somewhere else before when a tuner is not available.

I think it had something to do with tuner priority. This box only has one tuner and I think I have everything set as 1 for live tv. I'll have to look at that again.

Made some progress. I loaded a database from before I deleted the HDHomerun tuner. And the HDPVR works!! Now for the weirdness. If I delete the HDHomerun or delete the channels that are assigned to it I'm right back to the No tuners available.
