I am installing a R7.1 all is well till I reboot for first time then it at booting screen .
Last thing it says is
Starting Avahi

It just sits there.
I have R6.4 running just want upgrade to r8,but need to update database.

Its been a while since I upgraded form r6 to r7, FYI I'm pretty sure I skipped 7.1and used 7.2 instead This post should be insightful.

Some things to keep in mind as you move towards R8.02, backup your FStab!!! Keep in mind that UUID is now the standard for drives in FSTAB. Also if your have a spare drive it's always better to try it out before you run into trouble. It would be good just to test R8 and make sure everything works. Also XBMC allows you to create a library of your show if you rename the files....
