8.1.1 install hangs after nVidia video driver install. I am guessing that the driver is newer that support for my hardware. My hardware TF7050 / 630a was last supported by nVidia version 304.88 (2013/04/02)
What versions of Nvidia drivers are in
8.1.1 ---> Nvidia driver version 310.19
8.1 -----> Nvidia driver version 310.19
8.0 -----> Nvidia driver version 310.19
7.4 -----> Nvidia driver version 295.20

Also is there a way to roll back the driver version during the install process?

Note: I updated the versions on this page as I found them.
Thanks

It looks like the Biostar TForce TF7050-M2 uses onboard NVIDIA GeForce 7050PV

For Reference R8.1.1

Code:
nvidia-settings

Code:
Linux-86_64
Nvidia driver version 310.19

On their web page the creation date shows up as 2012.11.16
Unfortunately, the 7050PV is not on the supported hardware list.
Instead the Biostar GeForce 7050PV is supported by this set of Linux drivers

Code:
Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver  NVIDIA Recommended    304.1210    March 11, 2014
Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver    304.1190    January 23, 2014
Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver    304.1170    December 11, 2013
Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver    304.1160    November 6, 2013
Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver    304.88    April 2, 2013
Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver    304.84    March 4, 2013
Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver    304.64    November 6, 2012

It would be good to hear the devs recommendation, it's kind of unique.

The legacy nvidia driver was dropped with R8.0. See: http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/versions/22 & http://linhes.org/issues/907 & http://linhes.org/issues/906

R8.0 and R8.1 have the same kernel and nvidia drivers.

You can't use the nvidia pkg from R7.x in R8 due to the architecture and kernel difference. nVidia drivers must be compiled against the installed kernel version.

It looks like you can avoid nVidia driver installation in R8 by forcing vesa from the kernel boot args: http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/wiki/Boot_Settings
