Thanks Britney.

Now for some embarrassing questions. My understanding is that in order to fix it, I;
1. Download the file ( I assume any of the 3 listed is OK)
2. Copy to an empty directory
3. cd to the directory
4. makepkg

Is that correct?
Do I need to install "base-devel" group?
Is there another (better) way?

To fix just the mythwelcome command that is getting overwritten on boot you don't need to build the whole package. Just edit
Code:
etc/X11/Sessions/LinHES
and remove or comment out line
Code:
first_mythwelcome_config
in
Code:
function first_configure()
. Note that if you reinstall LinHES-system this change will be overwritten.

Thanks, that sounds a lot less dangerous. I will try it tomorrow.

Hopefully I will only be updating from here not re-installing. I assume the fix will be included by then.

Well that went well. Commenting out that line solved the problem.

Once again many thanks.
