Well decided to bite the bullet and do the upgrade. First I ran the backup from the menu before I started. I booted from the CD told it to do the upgrade and go! During the upgrade process it said something like "configuring system" which I thought was odd but then finished and told me to reboot. After the reboot it looked pretty good but I noticed I had errors on several tuners. It turns out that "some script" added three additional tuners for my HDHomerun Prime, and another for the HD-5500 I have installed in the system. I ended up deleting all the tuners, then started to add them and noticed they were not listed where they should be in \dev\v4l. I ssh'd into the box to check some things, I looked in /etc/udev/rules.d and my 10-local.rules was gone. Sooo when I went to get a copy of that from /root and noticed that all the files were gone. expept for the one's listed below. Code: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 116 Oct 14 08:30 .bash_profile Is there a way to restore the files from /root from the a backup? -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 826 Oct 14 08:30 .automated_script.sh drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Oct 14 08:30 .post_process.old -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 32 Oct 27 14:17 .install_size -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5526 Oct 27 14:18 install.txt drwxr-xr-x 22 root root 4096 Nov 1 15:54 .. drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Nov 1 15:54 .config drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Nov 1 15:54 .mythtv -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 16 Nov 1 18:19 test drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Nov 1 19:04 . -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 44 Nov 1 19:05 .profile -rw------- 1 root root 1279 Nov 1 19:05 .bash_history I recreated 10-local.rules rebooted again then reconfigured all the tuners. At this point most everything was working except for my HDPVR. I couldn't get the blaster working. I got the following entry in dmesg when I use the irsend command to the blaster Code: [ 431.980820] i2c i2c-4: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 431.980832] i2c i2c-4: Falling back to user helper [ 431.982621] lirc_zilog: firmware haup-ir-blaster.bin not available (-2) [ 771.946893] i2c i2c-4: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 771.946905] i2c i2c-4: Falling back to user helper [ 771.948718] lirc_zilog: firmware haup-ir-blaster.bin not available (-2) [ 1147.556734] i2c i2c-4: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 [ 1147.556746] i2c i2c-4: Falling back to user helper [ 1147.558586] lirc_zilog: firmware haup-ir-blaster.bin not available (-2) I found this Code: Yeah, you're missing /lib/firmware/haup-ir-blaster.bin, has to be manually added to the system. Apparently is was included in 8.1 but it's not on the 8.2 ISO. I found a copy of it here: Code: http://www.blushingpenguin.com/mark/lmilk/haup-ir-blaster.bin EDIT - also available using " pacman -S zilog-firmware " I've also noticed that I don't get the "colors" in the root account. I tried a .profile and a .bashrc files with Code: alias ls='ls --color=auto' but couldn't get it to work on login. If I log in as the mythtv user it works as there is .bashrc in that user directory. Any thoughts on how to make this work? Thanks. One other note: Non of my installed extras were installed either, ie xbmc, webmin, handbrake |

autocard.py is the script that ran to detect and create static dev nodes for your tuners. The results for your system are found at http://ip.of.your.box under System --> Tuners. If you use these nodes you don't need readd your udev rules. /root is not included in the system backup. Do you have any idea what package the firmware was a part of in R8.1? If you create a /etc/bashrc file all your settings should be available in all accounts unless you override them with ~/.bashrc. |

Looks like the firmware is part of the zilog-firmware package. Code: pacman -S zilog-firmware
