I attempted to install Release 8.3 from an SD card.
I created a bootable SD card using unetbootin.
This method works fine with R7.4.
The boot starts but fails early on.
Here is an image of what I see when the boot fails:

Nevermind about that problem.
I found that if I created the SD card using the command:
Code:
dd if=LinHES_R8.3.iso of=/dev/sdc

(where /dev/sdc is the SD card device)

Then I got a bit further.

But now I'm stuck at this point:

It just sits there at 3% with the error shown at the bottom.
I did this again using all default install options other than the timezone and the hostname and it stopped at the same point.

Any ideas?

[edit] another observation: the /tmp/mythvantage_install.log shows transferring system, and then the standard_in error is repeated every couple of seconds. If I leave it sitting there, top shows all of the memory being consumed and then the box locks up and becomes unresponsive.

The HDD in the target machine was stuffed. I'm not sure why it resulted in those symptoms, but I was able to install after replacing the HDD.
