In an effort to try to mitigate the fact that the LinHES browser no longer works on streaming sites, I figured I could install a dual boot OS. I chose Linux Mint for the other OS and things looked right. It identified LinHES and asked if I wanted to install the new OS beside LinHES, so I chose yes. At a later point in the installation process, there was a message of some partition that was not mountable and the end result was that some disk space was partitioned but no installation was actually made. Anyone tried this and has any good advice? |

The bad news is that there are no suggestions. The good news is that a bunch of people have actually read my post. There are still people here - yay! I solved the situation by installing a new Linux box and creating a LinHES client virtual machine under VirtualBox. There may be better virtualization products today, but VB is the one I have experience with, so it was easy to do for me. There is a bit of jerkiness in playback once in a while, which I will look into. Probably some process that needs to be "nice -n 19"? There are also some audio configuration issues. If I test the audio, there is no device. If I don't test the audio, it just works... I can easily restore a working VM from a snapshot when I break it. Nice for experimenting! So, problem solved for now. |
