Post subject:  R6 and PVR350 IR issues
I believe I posted this question in the wrong forum,
(Knoppmyth -> Usage/How, sorry. So I am posting it here instead.)

I've setup Linhes 6.01.00 with my system

# MOTHERBOARD: ASUS M2NPV-VM AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150
# CPU: AMD 2400 BE processor
# RAM: Kingston 2 GB
# 2 Hauppauge PVR-350 cards
# Hauppauge "Silver" remote control used in the card nearest to CPU
(A415-HPG)

LinHES is very impressive and I thank the talent putting it together.

Unfortunately, (I know you were waiting for it) whenever I try to exit from playing a recording after it's been running for at least 20 seconds by pressing the back/exit button, it will take another 5 - 10 seconds to exit. Or if I press the press the back/exit button twice it seems to exit faster but not always.

Also, I notice when I try to exit using the keyboard the response is similar to the remote control.

I looked at the /var/log/lircd file and this line appears many times

Jan 3 00:29:37 mythtv01 lircd: name lookup failure connecting to localhost

Also when I've run the mythtv-setup program and try to exit it reports it can't write /myth/tv//.test file. I've checked and ran a chmod -v 777 /myth/tv but the error will still appear after exiting storage directories in the mythtv-setup process.

Any input will be appreciated.

I would like to stay with R6 but I'm leaning towards of going back to 5.5.

What does your /etc/hosts file contain? It should include a line such as

127.0.0.1       localhost
That could explain the "name lookup failure" entries, but I don't know why you would have the same issue via the keyboard. At what resolution are you driving your display? There have been posts in the past indicating a higher resolution causes MythTV navigation to slow/pause, you may want to try different resolutions.

What does ls -la /myth/tv reveal? Your myth user probably doesn't have permissions to write to the .test file.
