Looks like it is wired, would prefer it if it was wireless...

However for keeping a Keyboard/mouse in my laptop bag for when working on headless servers this could come in handy :)

I've ordered one of these wireless ones from ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mini-Wireless-handheld-mouse-Keyboard-Remote-HTPC-510_W0QQitemZ250570878600QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Input_Peripherals?hash=item3a57302e88

It hasn't arrived yet, but I'll see how it goes.

I have one of these (the wireless) version, but I'm not particularly thrilled with it. Part of it is just my ineptness with thumb typing, but the lack of any kind of dynamic scrolling on the track pad, and the lack of a tab key are major annoyances for me (I frequently use alt-tab to switch between front end and other windows I have up). I also have trouble with alt commands (e.g. alt-x for terminal), resulting in multiple clicks. I invariably end up with multiple browsers or terminal windows opening when I try to start.

I ended up punting and going back to my previous keyboard, but of course YMMV.

thanks Craig that's the kind of thinking I was asking for. I'll keep that in mind while I'm looking for a media keyboard.

I didn't like the keyboard because of the lack of Tab and Function Keys. I ordered this netbook sized keyboard at http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mini-USB-2-4GHz-RF-Wireless-Keyboard-Trackball-mouse-/250607470716?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Input_Peripherals&hash=item3a595e887c. It does everything I want. I just make a few typing errors because the keyboard is a bit too small for touch typing.

I used a Solidtech ACK-571 for about a 16 months, and I'm less than
impressed with it:

http://www.pctekonline.com/acwikemoco.html

* About 10% of the time it's just plain dead when the machine boots.
Rebooting generally fixes it.

* The mousepad/pointer feature has never worked. I tried it with both
Linux and OS X. I neither know nor care if it works under Windows.

* It's strictly line-of-sight and must be aimed directly at the IR
receiver.

* It sometimes misses keyboard events. That's not a big deal if it's
a key-down event, but it can cause a mess when a key-up is missed.

I'm no longer using it. If anybody wants to cough up $20 for shipping
and hassling, it's yours. IMO, it's not worth it...

I've actually had excellent luck with that keyboard. I don't like the pointing device (or any of the the similar IBM eraser head types) but it works.

I have had some problems with lost key events more recently, but that seems to be due to driver or interrupt conflicts and the like, since a USB keyboard plugged directly into the box showed the same symptoms.
