Post subject:  MythTV want's to record to the same drive as the OS drive!?!

OK so I have posted recently about my OTA recordings being jumpy I tracked down the problem to be a hard drive problem.
I installed the LinHES OS on my IDE 160GB drive so that's SCSI Device A partition 1 (SDA1).
my SATA 250gb drive is SCSI device B and since it used to have an install of LinHES on it my "/myth" partition is partition 3 on this drive (SDB3).
I have added a "/myth/myth" that points to SDA3 for added space.
When recordings are recorded on SDB3 the hard drive use light works overtime and the recordings get all jumpy and during liveTV the show will crash and give an "Video frame buffering failed too many times" Error.
I tried using webmin to move the virtual memory to SDB2 but that didn't change anything.
Why is this happening and how can I fix this.
The way I see it there are a couple of options that I don't know how to do.
1 move the install to my 250gb drive
2 have the transcoder copy the files to my 250gb drive
3 figure out why mythtv hates recording to the secondary drive

Help
Thanks.

What does your fstab look like?

I've a load of hdd in my mythbox well 4, last count (1x 500gb, 2x1Tb, 1x2Tb).

I did a somthing like the process described here

Essentially I formatted the new drive and mounted the new drive to a new folder and used the storage group facility to span the different drives.

I suspect mounting /myth in /myth might be causing some sort of recursive folder? Might not tho - I'm not exactly an expert.

I've tried storage groups with a mix of IDE and SATA drives with no issues (on a test machine) that I can recall and I certainly don't have any problems with my production box.

The other possiblilty is your drive is on is way out?

Code:
"Video frame buffering failed too many times"

wondering if you are using a Silicon Dust HD Homerun? I had a similar problem.

I found this:
Code:
I had a problem similiar to yours. It failed on the same channel.
I found a posting that recommended to set the 'quick tune' to 'always', in 'input connections' setting from the backend config. Dont know what it does , but my problem went away after that.

Here - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1316167

I was getting some stutter at and the error at the top of the hour. Made the change and haven't gotten the error since. Even though I still get some stutter at the top of the hour. (I think it's when then file names change)

yes ive considered hardware failure as a possibility. the recursive drive /myth/myth/ is the drive that is working. moving it to anoher "folder" is an easyish thing to do.
my only tuner card is a pinnacle pctv hd.

i need to test the drive a little in a different box.
