Post subject:  Install Tinytwin USB DVB-T when only supported in 2.6.37?

I have a pair of TinyTwin usb DVB-T (Afatech 9015) that I am trying to have recognized in Linhes 6.04. They show up ok in lsusb.

According to this page http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DigitalNow_TinyTwin_DVB-T_Receiver the device is only supported in kernel 2.6.37 or higher.
Code:
The device with USB ID 1f4D:9016 (which is for the most current device) is only supported in kernel 2.6.37 or greater.

LH 6.04 iso is 2.6.28.

Can anyone suggest how I can have the devices installed in LH?

BTW, my knowledge of linux is fairly basic.

Well, after a brief test drive of LinHES 06.04.00 and 07.00.02, I discovered that 06.04.00 is cranking a customized linux-2.6.28 kernel while 07.00.02 is cranking linux-2.6.37 kernel. Although it is still in testing, you might try installing 07.00.02 and see if that addresses the issue. I am wondering the same for my HVR-2250.

Many thanks for the reply. The new kernel should be the answer. :D

Did you get your TinyTwin working? I've just run up a LinHES install in a virtual box to try out but can't get the TinyTwin working.

No, I couldn't install R7 - the installation failed. So I installed Mythbuntu 11.04 which has the necessary drivers. Your Tinytwin should work out of the box after a little config.

In Mythbuntu you need to make sure you have the firmware installed. You will get a nag screen about 'Hardware Drivers' just after you install MB.

Next, you need to tweak the settings in the back end. In short, the biggest trap is that by default the kernel sends unused usb devices to sleep, so that recordings will often fail without the necessary settings.

I am away from my machine at the moment. I will post the settings later today.
