I have just upgraded from version 7.2 to version 8 and I copying my data back to my MBE however it is only running at around 32MB/s, whereas with the previous version I was getting up around 90MB/s+

I am using SMB and transferring from a Windows 7 computer to the MBE, the only thing that is changed is the version of LinHES. I have checked and the MBE is connected at 1000MB and running at Full Duplex, same as my local desktop. I am not using Jumbo frames, however that may be an option that I can explore later.

Could anyone offer any suggestions as how I troubleshoot this issue.

Cheers

Here is a samba tweak that I hope helps
First, you need a sample file to test the original speed
Report the speed test result

Then edit
/etc/samba/smb.conf

add this into the global settings at the bottom

Code:
socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY
raw read = yes
write read = yes
max xmit = 65535
dead time = 15
getwd cache = yes
ipq cache = 30

Save the change
Restart Samba
Run the speed test again
Report the speed test result

Good Luck

Any chance you have a backup of your key configuration files under the previous version? I'm guessing the new version defaults are not optimized for your network. You'll need to review the settings on the previous system to figure out what to tweak.

Thanks guys for the help, I have found that is now an intermittent issue and seems that when copying a series of smaller files (smaller in the case of video files) it seems to slow down, however when doing an individual file or a group of big files, it runs as well over 100MB/s where as when it slows down it is flat out pushing 30MB/s.

There are no backup files, it is a clean build of R8 so there is nothing left over from the old system unfortunately.
