Post subject:  Getting Nova-T 500 card to work? [SOLVED]

Trying to get an old Nova-T 500 card to work with R8.
From LinuxTVWiki:
Quote:
You may have to force LNA to get this card working:

In /etc/modprobe.d/options add:

options dvb_usb_dib0700 force_lna_activation=1

Now, there is no such file. Creating it does not seem to help either - the signal strength is always 0% on this card. Should I just put it in the garbage, or could it be made to work with reasonable effort?

Thanks,
/Chris

It's a bit odd it doesn't work. In R7 it worked out of the box with no tweaking. I only took mine out of my setup as due to udev rules (and my lack of time/understanding) it kept swapping places with my other tuners.

I've just been poking around my R8 box, and in /lib/firmware certainly the needed firmware for my card appears to be missing... perhaps it is the same with yours...

Hi calfors,

Did you get your Nova-T500 working?

I just put my old Nova-T500 into a friends machine. It worked out of the box, however when selecting the card in Myth-setup I chose the 'auto-detected' entry.

I used EIT and away it went... picked up all channels first time.

What an embarrassment!

In the general situation of migrating from one box to another, I have more receivers than the antenna splitter can provide inputs for, so I have had to use any antenna connection available. In this case, I used the antenna output from a TV card that had one. It turned out, however, that the output was dead! When connecting the card to a working antenna, it worked without configuration...

Thanks,
/Chris
