Can LinHES make use of the hardware graphics acceleration in the AMD Fusion E-350? Has anyone tried it and were there any problems? mike |

I think a really interesting test would be the 45W AMD Kaveri A8-7600 once it becomes available |

My problem is that I have 2 Zotac ZBOX AD-03s serving as HTPCs. I've tried WMC where I had excellent video but all other aspects were terrible. XBMC (OpenELEC) also produces excellent video performance but loses contact with my MythTV BE (0.25.2/Fixes) very regularly and has no provision for toggling between current and previous channels that I've been able to find. I'm currently using Mythbuntu (12.04) FEs, where the video rendering can't keep up with fast moving action and delivers jerky video. With the various motorsports series starting up this is now a major issue. The Mythbuntu Control Center says that my system is using the proprietary AMD drivers and the Catalyst Control Center. I know I can resolve the issue by buying new equipment with an Nvidia video engine but I would rather not spend the money unless it is necessary. I was hoping that LinHES had resolved the AMD Catalyst/driver issue. mike mike |

Quote: Thanks, that seems to say "don't bother." Just to clarify, the "don't bother." referred to the motherboard as a viable option. The graphics worked fine, the cpu just didn't have enough power to use as a combo frontend/backend. |

Just for reference most of the users of Linhes have been using Nvidia for the past decade. In fact a lot of users are big time AMD and Nvidia.. You're really limited your options with the ZOTAC ZBOX AD03 boxes. Does the Zbox have a HD or SSD? There is hardly any latency with a SSD. Performance wise an SSD crushes a 2.5 Hard Drive. I would say test a Zbox as a dedicated Linhes R8 frontend with a small SSD This kind of setup works good on Atom. It is light and fast and works good with NBA. Then you can tell if it meets your HD requirements. . |

Thanks, I was hoping to find that LinHES might be a solution to my problem with Fusion E-350 video and MythTV. Evidently that wasn't a reasonable expectation. mike |
