Post subject:  rtc wakealarm in 6.02

I'm used to having my mythbox (combined front and back ends) suspend, then resume for recordings using /sys/class/rtc/rtc0/wakealarm. I've summarised my method in this thread.

After upgrading to 6.02 I was finding that recordings were being missed because the machine didn't wake up properly.

Happily the fix is relatively simple and is reported in this kernel bug. Setting the "hpet=disable" kernel parameter fixes it, for me at least. For those (like me) who didn't/don't know how to set a kernel parameter, you just add it to the kernel line in your grub menu, /boot/grub/menu.lst. So mine now looks like (the default, bootsplash option)
Code:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/9de3d958-d285-4285-bedb-787c21dec06d ro init=/sbin/runit quiet  vga=0x314 splash=silent,theme:linhes hpet=disable console=tty1
