Post subject: | how to restore a ".old" recording using symlink |
So I'm having an issue with my transcoding turning out bad. The video plays back on mythtv at half speed and plays back on VLC on Windows with no audio. That is not why I'm posting this! There is a setting in the Transcoding section that says "save original after trans-coding" or something like that. The files get saved as "##########.mpg.old" then the transcoded files are saved as an ".nuv" file. SO the database is looking for that transcoded file to play back but it's bad so you delete it. Then take the ".old" off of the original. Using the symlink command Code: ln -s /Real/File/Path /Sym/file/Path
The internal player doesn't freak out about a different suffix extension, but you may have to manually delete the file if you haven't selected "delete follows symlink" in the setup menu. (that's a scary setting that I leave off). I doubt anyone will find this useful, but just in case I put it out there. |
