I am having trouble getting samba to load at startup. I have been looking into this and I have put in my /etc/rc.conf:

Code:
...
#
#DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond)
DAEMONS=(fbsplash fam samba !syslog-ng !hotplug !pcmcia network !mysqld !dbus !avahi-daemon)
# End of file

If I type in:
Code:
sudo /etc/rc.d/samba start

Samba starts and works fine.
What am I doing wrong??

Have you put a tick in the box in the Myth setup (part of LinHES) to tell it to turn on?

Just a thought.

rc.conf is not used with linhes.
The suggested method is as girkers said.
Or add_service.sh smbd and add_service.sh nmbd

@girkers: do you mean:

Service Menu => LinHES Configuration => Advance Settings => Windows Sharing, Checkbox

If someone could explain what /sbin/add_service.sh does, I would appreciate it. I looked at the file and did not understand what it does.

I added a samba user:

Code:
smbpasswd -a mythtv

Copied my smb.conf and other related files to: /etc/samba

Restarted samba:

Code:
sudo sv restart smbd nmbd

Added the share drive from a DOS prompt:

Code:
C:\ net use o: \\dotmyth\myth
