I often find that my shows end pre-maturely: to remedy this I would like to increase the recording length by 90 seconds.

Is there a parameter that I can set once and automagically have all future recording increase by 90 seconds? Thanks.

setup -> tv settings -> general

the 4th page on my 6.0.4 box has options to start recording early and extend recordings

You can either have individual recordings start and end late or all recordings start and end late. I actually set both for most recordings. My default is set to pad by 60 seconds on either end and the individual recording rules anywhere from nothing (this channel is *always* on time) to 10 minutes for NUMB3RS which shifts like crazy.

if they are starting and ending 90 seconds late you could adjust your clock to accomodate.

Some channels are on time and some (FX) seem to start later and the ending is clipped. I checked that my clock was synced using:

Code:
[root@mythtv ~]# ntpq -p

remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter
==============================================================================
+i1.fwwds.com 64.147.116.229 2 u 263 1024 377 87.492 -0.206 0.266
+ntp1.Housing.Be 169.229.128.214 3 u 261 1024 377 108.313 -1.826 1.048
*ntp.cox.net .GPS. 1 u 284 1024 377 35.814 1.507 0.228
-ntp.idealab.com 208.76.2.12 2 u 244 1024 377 80.665 -1.918 0.177
-173.244.211.10. 131.107.13.100 2 u 175 1024 377 105.025 -9.758 0.229

So I think time is OK. I extended recording by 60 seconds. let's hope this solves the problem.

yes I call that the anti-tivo effect they don't wan't people to record the show and not get sucked into the next one. so they overrun the episode by adding an extra commercial or two. Community is bad about this they have a final joke at the end of the show after the credits and every time the punch line is a minute or less after the show ends.
The solution hit the network operators with a hammer. It's their fault they deserve to be punished.
