Having a problem on my fresh LH8.1.1 install using large video files (.mkv) that have been burnt to DVD. Smaller files (less than 2GB?), I can "Import files from DVD" via the Optical Disks menu and the files are copied to my videos storage group as expected. Larger files though, cause the screen to flash alternating between the frontend main menu and LinHES background? I hit the eject button on the DVD drive, disc ejects: back to normal. The DVD is mounted and accessible otherwise via /dev/sr0 or /media/cdrom/ I have had a scan of the logs, but can't seem to spot anything, although have little idea what I'm looking for...... Is it still supposed to be possible to play the files directly off DVD with mythtv 0.27 (I'm coming from 0.24/LH 6.03)?? Any help appreciated. |

have you tried a different DVD drive? I can't imagine that your DVD drive would be too slow reading the files directly from disk while playing a video but maybe there is some dust on the laser lens or something? |

That's one thing I haven't tried..... It is a newish SATA drive that has been working with an earlier LinHES/Mythtv in the recent past. Seems to work as expected otherwise, I can play and rip standard DVD-Video type ISO's, It works OK copying smaller (worked on 1.8GB-ish ones) video files from a data type DVD, including from burnt dual layer DVD's. I can see the offending DVD's mounted if I "df -h", and can copy from it command-line-wise, it just seems like Mythtv can't see the end of the large files and gets stuck in a screen flashing loop? |
