I copied the change_chan.sh and the red_eye app into /usr/local/bin, both of them were set up as executeable with root as owner and group staff. Running the change_chan.sh script as mythtv came up with a parmissions error, so I added mythtv to the dialout group in /etc/groups. After this I was able to get it to run from the command line, but not from within MythTV. So I added mythtv to the staff group, still didn't work.
I was having some other issues, so after a reboot, it worked.

Supposedly from the MythTV Wiki for 0.20, the Red-Eye serial is supposedly supported directly, but I didn't see any evidence of that in lirc setup for an IR blaster.

The change didn't work after adding the mythtv to dialout because you had to log out first. Logging out and back in should have worked. Thanks for the post, I've make the corrections for the next release.
