I just upgraded to a widescreen LCD and spend a few hours rebuilding the xorg.conf and modelines after doing searches to find out how. I got it to work, but then discovered a much easier way. doh! As root: Code: dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg This can be done from a text window, so X doesn't need to be running yet. Note that it will only work if a display is connected that sends valid EDID information (i.e. not for TV-out).
It seems most posts here and elsewhere are from people with problems. I suspect many people don't need to do it the hard way (like me)...
