Post subject:  NDISwrapper version compatability after kernel upgrade

G'day,

In my recent quest to rebuild a mythbox and get wireless working, I used the latest version of ndiswrapper ( compiled from source ). This caused a kernel crash when doing the modprobe ndiswrapper .The solution was to go back to Ndiswrapper version 1.0, and build that from source. The version that failed was 1.4.

Note that this may only be a problem if you have had to download a newer kernel to fix a problem. I am using the 2.6.11.12 kernel which I had to download and compile to get a Twinhan DVB card to work.

I discovered the same problem and had to take ndiswrapper back to 1.1

The following is a quick rundown:

http://packages.debian.org/testing/misc ... per-source which has a link to http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/ ... rig.tar.gz about 3/4 way down the page

downloaded to /usr/src/

'untarred'

Then

make clean
make
make install

depmod -a

modprobe -v ndiswrapper installed with no errors

ran netcardconfig

everything worked at this point...

X,
Not sure what you mean by "you will need to copy that rundown as most people will not be able to get to it." Was it to cryptic or do I need to post it somewhere else?
