What are the commercial use rights of LinHES?

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere - I did a cursory search and did not easily find an answer.

That is an excellent question. Are you looking to use a LinHES machine(s) in your business, sell machines with LinHES on it, or install on client machines?

I am not an authority on this subject.
From here MythTV is covered by the GPL https://www.mythtv.org/license
LInHES is based on Arch Linux which is also GPL according to this page https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?ti ... edirect=no

Over 12 years ago there was a user named "human" who was selling the "dragon" which was a prebuilt system with LinHES's father Knoppmyth installed and configured. The site is defunct now but All things live on in the Internet Archive. https://web.archive.org/web/20100526102 ... -v2-0.html

I'm not sue if any of that helps you. But I'm intrigued.

I remember on a MythTV podcast they interviewed someone who was using MythTV as the college campus wide DVR. http://tlltsarchive.org/archives/MythTV ... sode35.ogg

Hi Matt

Thanks so much for your reply.

We are looking to deploy streaming TV sticks with our software on them and are interested in possibly using LinHES as the core OS. I know by using a 3rd party distro we potentially run the risk of end-of-life issues if LinHES stops receiving support, but it seems to me that LinHES will continue to be around and that maybe our commercial use of the OS would help encourage that continued support. Why re-create the wheel when there is already a very good wheel?

Our software is web / android / ios and we have wrapped the web based software in a linux package and are looking for a minimalist disro that would support the app and allow us to get the most out of streaming stick hardware.
