am I right to say that if I get a HD-3000, and all i have is basic cable, ABC, fox etc... the programs that are in HD I will be able to watch in HD? I do not have to pay for the HD package from my cable company, correct? thanks

No, you are inaccurate. Some folks have had success with getting QAM to work, others have not. I'd suggest a search of the MythTV archive and the pcHDTV forum.

yes/no You can get most of the local channels OTA, but you won't be able to pull them off your cable line. you'll have to get an antenna.
