Is it really hotplug that is looking for different SCSI-controllers, RAID-controllers and such stuff? I thought it was modules compiled into the kernel to faciliate booting from such hardware (for people who have it).

I'll write down the stuff the next time I reboot the machine.

well ok disc controllers might be build into the kernel, because knoppmyth I don't think currently uses initrd, so they have to be. but the big list of errors are caused by hotplug.
