G'day all,

Does anybody know what this means?
Looks like process's slowly die until there is nothing left and the whole thing hangs (getting %*%^ off with it to be honest)
I am about to put a nightly reboot in and see if that solves the problem.
It seems to be when watching recordings.
I see frame skips for awhile, before it happens.

Could it be...
1) heat on the pvr-350 (I am going to add a fan)
2) bad pvr350
3) sata disk (this is not the boot disk)

This problem seems to be exactly the same as before with the via MB I had, the only bits left from the original machine are the 40gb hard drive where the OS resides and that was on a 20gb for awhile while I was moving from one MB to another and the pvr cards.

How do I turn off commercial detection? Don't think it is related but it does not work properly.

The problem does not seem to happen when watching DVD's.

Test your memory and disable any exotic settings in your BIOS.

Thanks,

While I know my way around linux, bios is a bit of a mystery.

What would I be looking for?

Shouldn't be overclocked, I have done nothing to want to overclock it.
I suppose I chould check that it isn't, this is an area I know absolutely nothing about.

PnP, Ok, this could be an issue.
You are suggesting I disable it?

I also have the following and was wondering why one is set and the other not, I know how I can set it at boot time, but why the difference?

I probably need it off.

I ran memtest all day and did not get any errors.

Yes, disable it... Sorry, I'm not going to go over everything you need to check in the BIOS. Please search. Your other query isn't related doesn't belong in this thread.

OK, I will disable it in BIOS.
I am also investigation 'c1 disconnect' again, any one know what it is now called? It is not mentioned on the asus site or the nvidia site.
It might be related to 'Cool n quiet' I need to check if it disabled.

Can anyone help me as to what should be set or not set in bios. There is a lot of tid bits here and there but nothing concrete with the exception of PnP setting.

Thanks.

I had a list of things I was going to try, one at a time.

The last change I made was to alter the CAS/RAS timings and so far I have not had a crash and we have been up for 8 days. I increased the number in bios by 1.

I have not been using it as much recently but it does seem to be stable.

The other items I have left if this is not the case is...

PCI Latency
Recompile kernel without SMP (straw clutching really)
