Hi,

I've learned that my (USB) Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 works with KnoppMyth's Phone functionality and the MythWeb Motion web page with very little effort on my part. (Nice!)

I have two PCI cards for recording that will come up as /dev/video0 (pchdtv-3000) and /dev/video1 (pvr-150) if the webcam is not plugged in at boot. Then the webcam ends up as /dev/video2 once it is plugged in. This is how I'd like to keep things.

However, if I boot with the webcam plugged in, it takes over /dev/video0 and the pchdtv-3000 ends up /dev/video1 and I don't think the pvr-150 is even recognized. (What a mess.)

How can I force the webcam to be /dev/video2 even if it is plugged in at boot time? Thanks for any tips.

I think you'll have to monkey with the scan order in the /etc/init.d scripts or in the modules list. I wrote something up about this once upon a time when I was battling with the pcHDTV-3000...
