well..... different motherboard, same problem. I still hear no sound, I don't think its a remote problem though. I can see the volume slider moving, there just isn't any sound. Per the wiki I ran "alsa_init" as root and checked lsmod and I see modules for my sblive ca0106 loaded, but the last line of "alsa_init" still says aumix no device found. This a fresh load of R5C7. Motherboard is an MSI, all other hardware is as per above, dedicated machine no dualboot. Silver remote "A415-HPG" inside the bat compartment.

ok checked alsamixer, after running alsaconf, every single slider for my SBlive CA0106 was at zero. From my previous experience I raised the "Analog F" slider, and I get sound. Sound, uncontrollable from my shiny silver Haupp remote. Looks like I'm gonna have to check "internal volume control" which I pretty sure was marked yes, and crack open the lirc file, and see what my remote volume buttons are connected too.

lirc files look okay, I'm starting to wondering if /dev/dsp is somehow not linked to alsa? Which is probabley what aumix means by "no device found".

I'm starting to wonder about the driver for my SBlive. Autoinstall chose the CA0106 driver, and I'm wondering if thats why aumix comes back no device found. The other driver EMK????? seems to be working more "out of the box". Anyone else had any luck with this driver module.

On my system, the sound is actually on /dev/dsp1 and the right mixer to use is /dev/mixer1. The first device is used by the capture card, and changing that mixer does nothing good.

no sound at all on /dev/dsp1 on any mixer. I guess my options are to try the built in sound of the motherboard or, try a different sound card. I went ahead and ordered a sound blaster live 16-bit (EMUK101 chipset) card. I may have to donate the 24-bit to someone in hopes that volume control could be added to the driver. Other than volume control, the card was fine.

bought a used sb live gamer! 5.1 sound card(with the EMUK10 chipset) and a turtle beach sound card just in case, from the local PC recycle place. Did a fresh install of R5C7 and I saw no sqawks from aumix, about no device found, and low and behold I have volume control from the Hauppauge Silver A415-HPG remote.
