I have two monitors on my mythtv box.

1 - LCD Built in to my case
2 - TV

both are connected using the same video card (it has support for separate outputs).

I have read a lot of man pages and done a lot of configuring of the XF86Config-4 file and after a few days of work got it configured the way I understood it needed to be.

My current goal is to be able to setup my TV and send 480p and 1080i signals to it. My video card is capable of it, I have the correct cabling that I need and in fact under Windows have acheived this so it is not a hardware capability / configuration issue.

Here is what I have added to the XF86Config-4 file thus far:

Code:
Section "ServerLayout"
        Identifier     "XFree86 Configured"
        Screen      0  "Screen0" 0 0
        Screen      1  "TV" 0 0
        InputDevice    "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
# PS/2 Mouse using /dev/input/mice in Kernel 2.6
# Serial Mouse not detected
        InputDevice    "USB Mouse" "CorePointer"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier "ATIAdapter2"
        Driver  "vesa"
        VendorName "All"
        BoardName "All"
        BusID   "PCI:1:0:1"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "TV"
        Device     "ATIAdapter2"
        Monitor    "SonyXBR40"
        DefaultColorDepth 32

        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 32
                Modes "720x480" "1920x1080"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

Section "Monitor"

        Identifier      "SonyXBR40"
        ModelName       "SonyXBR"
        HorizSync       15.0 - 46.0
        VertRefresh     59.0 - 61.0

        ModeLine "720x480"      27.0 720 736 798 858 480 489 495 525 -hsync -vsync
        ModeLine "1920x1080"    74.250 1920 2008 2052 2200 1080 1084 1094 1124 +hsync +vsync Interlace

EndSection

There is a lot more configuration information in that config file, but that is JUST what I added for the second adapter in my video card. The ServerLayout section contains information for both adapters.

Can someone help me get to the next step? At this point my TV picture looks just as it did when I first installed Myth. It looks like the refresh rate or resolution is not supported and therefore all I get is a whole bunch of horizontal colored lines. The picture is definately not viewable at this point.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem with a similar config, only colored lines, like the refresh is wrong, have changed just about everything, but can't get it to work.

If anyone is using an ATI 9800 Pro with tv-out, please post a config with refresh rates that work for an NTSC-M tv.
