I feel like a giant douche for asking this, but it is driving me crazy.

I can copy from Firefox and past back into Firefox. I can copy from Firefox and paste into xterm. I can copy from xterm (by just selectiving with the mouse) and paste into xterm. If I try to paste into Firefox what i just pasted into xterm successfully... I get what I had last copied in Firefox NOT xterm. Firefox seems to share the system clip board in a one-way manner. Or maybe xterm is the problem.

Ideas?

I can paste in FF with the middle mouse button, CTRL-V, and SHIFT-INS... but I don't get what was copied in XTERM... I get what was copied in FF last.

I did try lauching Xclipboard, to see what's there. It's got what ever I copy from FF. I can watch it update in real time as I copy new things in FF.

It does not, however, update when I copy from XTERM. But I can go to Xclipboard delete what is there and paste what I just copied from XTERM via any of the 3 methods I describe above. Then, I can paste it into FF. THIS SUCKS! but it beats transcribing dmesg output into forum posts by hand, as I have had to do in the past.

Ideas? I think this is a problem with X, not FF or XTERM at this point.

I think I needed to use the edit->copy menu option within xterm
