Not sure what it is called but other distros like SuSe have Yast. Does knoppmyth have something like that where you can load up a file from a CD or flash drive via some windows like view? I want to install the newest ndiswrapper and do not know much about Linux to type it out.

Not sure I've got the entire gist of your question(s), but
A) Knoppmyth uses apt-get for package management
B) Depending on your Knoppmyth version ndiswrapper is probably included already.
So, if you are trying to use ndiswrapper I would suggest starting with "man ndiswrapper", and see what you get. If that doesn't get you where you want to be then some specifics (what exactly you are trying to accomplish, on what hardware, with which Knoppmyth version, etc.) will be necessary.

Thanks for the reply. I want to load up the driver for a WUSB54G v4 usb wireless adapter. Apt-get is done thru console is it not? If so I am not familiar with the commands in linux. I have no clue how to load a file off of a cd onto the root. Versus Suse there is a windows menu to drag and drop or cut and paste. I don't think knoppmyth has that capability.

Yeah I read them earlier but I don't see how that will help if I have a flash drive or cd. No clue as to how to access a cd.

For a USB drive plug it in and run the setup_usb.sh script. That should mount it as "/mnt/sda". You only need to run the script once.
For a CD or DVD, drop it in the CD/DVD drive, close it up, and it should automatically get mounted as "/mnt/cdrom".
Note that the KM Install CD contains a compressed image so this doesn't work for that. To copy stuff off of that need to boot from it and mount the HD.

I think he is asking for a file manager that has a GUI interface like Konqueror or XFE, so a user could drag and drop files to copy them.
( example: http://www.konqueror.org/features/filemanager.php )
The x-windows flavor that is included with Knoppmyth is missing a GUI file manager. It could really use one.

Dropped the cd into the drive and maybe it got mounted but I did not see it. Knoppmyth loaded fine from the drive but cannot see it now.

Yes that is what I was asking for! Knoppmyth is really nice if you have everything Knoppmyth has configured for, but anything different is a pain to figure out.
I love this distro...but wonder if all this time was put in...then why not make it easier. Look at all the threads posted. would it no be easier to address the issues up front, rather than answer them one by one? I really think that the poeple answering the posts are assuming everyone knows LINUX.

As Knoppmyth is a Linux distro then yes, I suppose most folks would assume some level of Linux experience. That level varies greatly among the people posting here.
Regarding "...all the threads posted...", it just isn't possible to "...address the issues up front...". The hardware, OS, MythTV, etc. are all moving targets. You want really lively forums? Find any that deal with that little OS from Redmond, and see how they are addressing their issues...
BTW, you can apt-get xfe (man apt-get for more info, but it would go something like Code: apt-get install xfe You can find more information on XFE here: http://roland65.free.fr/xfe/

I tried and tried to install xfe (using apt-get) into KnoppMyth R5D1. It doesn't work. It worked in KnoppMyth R5C7, but not in R5D1. I gave up on it.

Did you go with an alternative? If so, which one?

No. I didn't try any more after hitting the dead-end with xfe and KnoppMyth R5D1. I'm not sure if you can safely add Konqueror to KnoppMyth or not.
In my 9 months of Linux experiences, I've learned that experimenting on a working KnoppMyth installtion is dangerous, because you run the risk of screwing it up so badly that re-install is the only fix. Without *knowing* if an operation is safe, I don't try it on my KnoppMyth machine.

It looks like you can't install Konqueror by itself - I think you have to install the full KDE desktop in order to get Konqueror installed, which could break Knoppmyth.
