This was my first upgrade. And it was 99% perfect!!!

Everything I try to play from the media library works great (Tv Recordings, live TV, streams, music) except for my ISO files have no sound.

The video plays great from the ISO files BUT THERE IS NO SOUND and it now seems to be acting more like a regular dvd player should, allowing chapters etc... Other movies burned with settings of good, excellent, best etc... play just fine and have sound.

I hope this is something simple. PLEASE HELP as my favorites are all ISO's
Hardware:
Dell optiplex GX50
pvr350

Thanks very much.

I had a similar problem after I upgraded and what fixed it for me was I did a search for upgrading/install Codecs and after installing them I had sound.

jtsteve,

Did you find a solution for this? I am experiencing exactly the same situation you describe with the absence of sound with my iso files in my video folder, but sound with everything else (live tv, tv recordings) through my pvr-350 card. I saw a similar effect when I installed R5D1 but I needed to configure my on board sound (with alsaconf and alsamix). A similar approach with the upgrade is not working. I have explored the codec angle with no obvious solution.

Thanks, drutherford

Thanks for replying and I can say that I seem to have figured it out so here is an update.

About my system (at least the audio part): I have a PVR-350 card with the audio out going to my stereo system at input VCR-2. This allowed all live tv, recorded tv, and any mpg files in myth/video to be heard.

I have a 3.5 mini-plug to RCA (red and white cables) going from my (on-board) sound card (SiS SI7012) to my stereo system as input CD. This allowed .iso files in /myth/video, the CD/DVD player and music files in /myth/ to be heard here (at least in R5D1). I know that I could (in theory) route my PVR-350 audio out straight into my sound card in and have all sound going from my sound card, but that is a project for another day...

When I did the upgrade everything worked as before, except playing the DVD and playing .iso files from /myth/video. I struggled for a long time thinking that my sound card was not configuring correctly ( I had to play around quite a bit with alsa-init and alsamixer to get the mobo sound card configured in R5D1), but then I tried (as root) from the command line:

mplayer /myth/video/video-file-name-here.iso

and the sound was present.

Soooo...., I am embarrased to say that the fix for me turned out to be going to (in the GUI) Utilities/Settings > Setup > Media Settings > Videos Settings > File Types and scrolling through the file types until I found ISO where I check the box "use default player". This fixed my sound problem with playing iso files in /myth/videos.

It appears that the program xine is used instead of mplayer without this dialog checked. Perhaps the proper codecs are present for isos in mplayer but not xine in the install.

Hope this works for you

That worked great! I didn't even know that option was there. Thanks so much :)
