| Post subject: | DVD playback with PVR350 |
A DVD is mpeg2, right? And the PVR350 has an mpeg2 decoder chip, right? So if I'm using a PVR350 video out with the mythfrontend (i.e. the X desktop) on the TV out and I play a DVD does it feed the mpeg2 directly to the decoder chip? Or is the DVD data being decoded by the CPU? |

As of right now playback of DVD video with a pvr-350 is handeled by the CPU and the framebuffer driver. It does not use the mpeg-2 decoding of the pvr-350. There was a mplayer patch to let it use the pvr-350's hardware when playing mpeg streams. I'm not sure if it worked with DVD playback. |
