I doesn't output anything... It backs up /etc(not restored), /root(not restored) and /home(not restored) and the mythconverg database. When you do an Auto Upgrade, hda1 is wiped clean. After a reboot, the myth database is restored. The Backup option in the menu system runs the backup script.

thanks cesman
ok so from what it sounds like the backup feature backs up all the myth stuff and you restore it by using auto upgrade when a new version of myth comes out. ok that sounds cool, but unfortunatly not at all what im looking for. i was kind of hoping for some kind of way to backup all files on a linux system.
I know how to do it on a microsoft system. and im sure linux has it own spin on it.. i will keep looking but if anyone wants to comment feel free

I doesn't restore when a new Myth is realease, rather when a new version of KnoppMyth is released. If you re-read what I wrote, you'll see this does do what you want. You'll just need to restore /etc(risky that is why we don't restore it...).

I've always been curious when this topic comes up. where is this elusive backup menu item? I've done several knoppmyth installs and never seen this item.
