I have a small frontend attached to an LCD monitor that we treat pretty much like a TV. The only thing missing is to be able to use the remote control to turn the monitor on and off. Is there a way to do this? I know how to make LIRC and irexec run a script - there must be some script that can toggle the monitor into and out of standby mode. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

insert the following into your lircrc file.

begin
prog = irexec
button = standby
repeat = 0
config = xset dpms force off
config = xset dpms force on
end

reload lircd and restart your frontend (or just reboot)
pressing standby will turn off your montior, press stanby again to turn back on.

on my system any button will turn the monitor on
