Ok, so here's my scenario. I have a cable connection, with a router (running latest version of m0n0wall) and a 16 port switch. Off that switch hangs my Mythbackend (and several other PCs). One of the PCs is my WinXP machine which is my primary computer for day to day use. I have a domain name pointed at my home IP address. Port 80 is forwarded in the router config to my backend. This allows me to access it work/school/friends house/etc. Everything there is fine. Problem is when I'm at home, and sitting on a PC inside my network I am unable to reach the mythbox by typing in the URL. I can type in my host name, or type in my internal IP and everything works fine, but it is a hassle as one of my computers is a laptop and is often outside my network. This means I have to setup two sets of bookmarks, one for when i'm in my network, one for when i'm out of my network. Is there a solution to this? Can something be done so that when i'm at home I can open a browse and click my bookmark and have it load my mythweb page yet have that very same bookmark work from outside my network? |

My linksys router has the same problem where it won't forward the ports if it originates from inside the network, yet my ipcop firewall will. The only solution i can think of is to setup an internal dns server with www.yourdomain.com set to its internal ip address. |

That was the other solution that occurred to me (after I made my original post for this thread). What is that setting called in our IPcop settings? Perhaps monowall has something similar that I just need to enable. |

On ipcop it just works that way, ive not set any special settings. Does monowall already have a dns server that you can modify? |

I don't think so, but I haven't actually taken a close look... it could very well be there. |
