I replaced the motherboard in my myth box hoping this might solve some of my problems.
My newer network card 3c95x is not recogonised unless I manally install it and assign it an IP address and of course a route out.
How can i do this under Knopmyth? I can not find a /etc/rc.modules

Rebooting does not autosnif the hardware as I though with Knop- distros.

This motherboard, ASUS P4S333 also has an onboard audio chip that has been auto installed. I still have a video/audio lag that is intolerable. Live TV or prerecorded.

I know this is a quick network lesson that I need to learn.

Thanks

when you say install it I suppose you mean loading the module? and that it is not loading the module on boot, so netcardconfig doesn't work?

If either or these assumptions are wrong ignore the following advice.

the easiest way to get the module to load on boot is to run modconf as root and go to the network driver section and load the module, and it will take care of making it load on boot from there on. then netcardconfig should find the card and help you get the settings right.

oh and just for reference in debian it's /etc/modules but like I said modconf will take care of that for you.

Excellent. That worked great!

How do I keep the routing tables from disapearing during reboot?
I know it is a script entry but Debian is just different enough to make it hard to do. Most of the advice I get seems to be RedHat/Fedora based.

How could I assign an IP address? I don't need DHCP.

Thanks

netcardconfig should allow you to set an IP manually, and it will take care of changing all the files appropriately.

As for routes do you just need the default gateway, or do you have some other routes you are adding?
