I just installed knoppmyth (multiple times). When I shutdown and restart my machine stops with a _ on the screen (nothing else). If I ctlr+alt+backspace I can see the login prompt, but only for a second. I was able to get this error once INIT:I "c7" respawning too fast: disable for 5 minutes.

Hi,

The system probably installed at a res that is to high for your monitor / card. Once you get the prompt _ , try alt F2 to obtain a console. Then you should be able to nano -w /etc/X11/xorg.conf, to"adjust" things for your video card. vesa as driver is generic and should work.
