If after running alsaconf, you have no audio devices in /dev, then before selecting an option in the myth main menu, switch to another console and then type the following:

Code:
dpkg -S snddevices

and execute the 'snddevices' script at the location found.

This will create the missing dsp, mixer, midi and other devices.

This worked for me in RE50!

Enjoy

any ideas why I would need to do this every time the machine reboots?
if I don't run this snddevices script then I don't hear anything
