Hi all. Am I glad to hear that I am not the only one out there with this issue.

I had this occur out of the blue one night after running ALSA configuration. I think I chose the wrong sound card, then I reboot and *BAM* "Mount: device or resource busy".

I tried everything I could think of to pause the startup routine to try and figure out the point of failure even to the point of camcorder recording the screen during startup for frame by frame startup. No luck.

I ended up backing up the data to my hdb partitions, performing a fresh auto-install, then putting the data back (after spending nearly a week searching via Google for an answer as well as taking the PC to work to get Geek help from colleagues).

Needless to say, I was fine for a few days, then the PC would start locking up a random times until one day it returned to "Mount: device or resource busy" after a week from the previous reinstallation.

Well, I can say that now I am on my third go-round with this issue. The most recent was tonight. I had been underclocking the CPU due to some BIOS issues and hadn't gone in to setup the proper clocking. I just felt, "you know this thing is gonna crash if you reboot" after it had been running smooth for a couple weeks. No recent APT-GETs. I guess I may have done a lib6dev update and some other dependencies.

In any case, I finally searched this forum.

I'm gonna run downstairs right now and try the initrd-tools install and see what happens.
