i'm having a real problem getting TV out to work.

I have tried following various setup instructionson this board and others, manually putting in The TV settings, copying across known working xorg.conf files, installing the latest Nvidia drivers etc but the same problem persists

I have an Nvidia 6200 card with a monitor hooked o tht he VGA port and a TV hooked to the Svideo out

the monitor and TVout work fine during bootup whilst there is text on the screen then it sits for ages on "Checking Nvidia driver instalation" and then when the x-server starts and it goes into a graphic mode the monitor keeps going but the TV goes blank

checking the var/log/Xorg.0.log shows
"connected display device(s) on GeForce 6200 at PCI:1:0:0:
CRT-0
Nvidia TV Encoder (TV-0)

but in the X-server window when i right click and go to apps > tools there is no response when clicking TVout and the Nvidia setting tool only lists CRT-0

Doing the setup with _just_ the TV attached usually makes this go much easier. A dual head setup requires a bit more experience with things like reading driver docs, hacking X configuration files, and reading log files...

ok I'll try that. is there a way to rerun the Nvidia configuration without having to hack the Xorg file or reinstall the drivers ?

If all you want is TV out, why not try the sample xorg.conf in /etc/X11? In most cases, it should just work.
