I have a p4 2.4ghz 2gig ram 250gig HDD pvr 150mce running R5F27 when I go to system information memory usage off the bat is 700 with nothin running when I set to record a show it goes to 1.9 gigs of memory usage I also have a pvr 250 would it help reduce some of the load off memory I have a complete frontend/backend combo and power supply is 270watts its a shuttle PC.

Did you enable rrd_tool? You may have a process like mbmon that is stuck.

I got 2 gig of memory with no load im running at 550-600 when watching a show live bout 820 mb I also have 2gig of swap free jus wanted to kno wats the avergae load most systems have

It doesn't matter much, as long as you aren't really using any swap. Linux will use up as much memory as it can for buffers and cache, but if an application requests it, it will free that up before swapping. On my system with 1GB, I'm using 989MB, but 0 swap. From a terminal, run
Code:
free -m
to see (in MB) how much memory and swap you are using.

On my machine 1 gb storage P/4 3.0 ghz

I use about 990 mb and cpu utilization around 64% when watching HD tv
