Does anyone else have the need to run multiple instances of lircd? if so how do you set up /etc/lirc/hardware.conf and /etc/init.d/lirc ???

I'm in a bit of an odd situation, I have a PVR-150 with an mceusb2 IR receiver. I recently added an iMON VFD, which also has the iMON PAD remote. I would like to eventually switch to the iMON remote just for the aesthetic reason of NOT having an external box; HOWEVER I currently use a JP-1 universal remote and getting it to emulate the iMON remote is a slightly longer project for me. In the meantime I want BOTH remotes to work so I can work the JP-1 issue without killing my WAF.

I got the lircrc, and lirc.conf figured out. I'm at the point where I can make both work together perfectly if I start two instances of lircd by hand; one with --listen and one with --connect. I can't make this survive a reboot because the two files mentioned above are incapable of handling multiple instances of lircd.

So, am I barking up the wrong tree and is there a better way to get to remotes working? Am I half right, and there's a better way to configure lircd to handle two devices? or Am I on the right track and I need to hack /etc/init.d/lirc to handle multiple instacnces?

I'm not sure if this is the best way but you could:

1. Stop /etc/init.d/lirc from starting on boot
2. Enter the 2 command lines to launch both lirc's at the end of /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh
