I'm getting a ton of X errors (see below). I think the only recourse available to me is reinstall X (or better yet all myth). I've googled this quite a bit but can't find any answers. I'm pretty versed with unix but approaching horrible status on dealing with X. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. _abs

Googling "X Error: BadIDChoice" yields tons of possibilities. What have you changed on your system recently? A different theme, a different painter, some other change in the "Appearance" settings?

What version of KM is this?

You're not trying to use the opengl painter or other GL features (the missing GLX support) on a PVR-350 output are you? The current ivtvfb driver doesn't support that.

This is one of those "Doctor it hurts when I ..." where you get told "Of course it does. Don't do that."

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I really appreciate it. But as I said I know lots of unix, I don't know X. So I'm not sure what exactly you mean by opengl features.

So yeah, I may be trying to do all kinds of stuff but not realizing it's an issue.

I just installed R5F27 about a month ago, (great job by the way Cecil et. al., congrats on the yob too). It looks like this error was happening from day one but took almost a month to fill the hard drive partition and get my attention.

I do have a different screen layout on this SB than on my MB but both boxes are using PVR-350's.

On the SB I tried to disable "sound thru the pvr-350 only" but that didn't work, so I just deal with it. I do use the 350 to decode also.

Could ya be more specific about what bad things I may be doing? I don't use this box for games, don't use it for RSS, don't use it for web access... nothing. I just record and watch tv on it. Real Plain Abby like.

Thanks!

_abs

Go look under settings -> appearance for your theme painter setting. (You can also look directly at the mysql mythconverg database, in the settings table where it's ThemePainter) and make sure it's not OpenGL

Also troll through the other setup screens under TV playback or general for the "use opengl sync" option (UseOpenGLVSync in the database) and make sure it's off.

Finally, the PVR-350 framebuffer X driver is pretty low performance and the BlooTube theme is pretty demanding (eye candy costs a lot in terms of CPU/GPU horsepower and performance), you may want to try something a bit less flashy to see if it improves your GUI performance.

I have a PVR-350 and I have a background, but no menu is shown up.

If I press 'back' on my remote, I get the 'do you really want to exit MythTV', so I'm guessing it has something to do with the theme.

I saw a few posts about disabling OpenGL, but the instructions tell you how to do it through the menu settings (which I can't see). Can anyone tell me how to do it via the command line or which file to edit?

The settings.sh utility will let you change these. Search for posts by me that mention "settings.sh" and "ThemePainter". You can also use the twk_graphics.pl utility:
Code:
twk_graphics.pl --implement low
