Hello,

I failed to install libdvdcss2 using apt

Code:
# apt-get install libdvdcss2
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libdvdcss2: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.7-1) but 2.5-7 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

Using apt, I am not able to get a newer version of libc6
Code:
# apt-get install libc6
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
libc6 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 20 not upgraded

this is my sources.list:

Any suggestions how to solve this?

I have always compiled from source - Never had any problems, easy as
Code:
./configure --prefix=/usr && make && make install

Was trying to install the libdvdcss2 pkg per wiki instructions.

In the wiki it mentioned this exact problem and said to do an 'apt-get -f upgrade' or something like that, that didn't work. Other postings in this forum indicate using aptitude might help - it was of no use to me, same error.

I'm concerned as this seems to be semi-common yet no one seems to have provided a solid solution to this mysterious pkg version issue....

Any info greatly appreciated.

P.S. thanks to slowtolearn for his suggestion

I would be happy to try this but would need some more specific instruction as I'm still fairly new to linux. !
