I've secured MythWeb per alien's instructions here
http://knoppmyth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15796&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0.

With the upgrade to R5.5, the MythRadio web applet is no longer used. Instead, control is transfered to Windows media player (on a Windows client...). However, WMP comes up with the following error message:
Quote:
Windows Media Player encountered an error when connecting to the server. The security information from the server could not be validated.

My interpretation is that a self signed certificate doesn't cut it.

What are my options here?

Thanks,
/Chris

maybe try adjusting your security settings in that o/s web browser.
I am pretty sure WMP and other programs under that O/S look to the Internet Security settings established in the browser.

Might have to put your Knoppmyth box into the Trusted sites portion.

I don't use wmp, but I suspect all you have to do is install the certificate on the windows box.

To do it, open up IE (I know, I know) and go to mythweb. You will get the security alert pop-up. Click on View Certificate and then Install Certificate.

It's my job PC, so it's all locked down and there aren't very many settings I can change. I was able to View/Install the certificate though, which took care of the problem.

Thanks!

P.S. Thanks Alien for your writeup - it made me dare open my first web server. :)
