I have an Zotac IONITX board that uses the NVIDIA MCP79 chipset for MB temps. I've been googling around for days trying to figure out which kernel module is needed to read the MCP79 chipset but haven't been successful. Running sensors-detect did not provide anything useful. Anyone doing this? How about GPU and CPU temps? Seems like none of the above are detected with sensors-detect. FYI - this thread seems to detail how to get the coretemp module working via a patch. |

The GPU temp can be ascertained with nvidia-settings -q GPUCoreTemp As for the core temps, I also read the thread you linked to and eagerly installed kernel 2.6.32-rc5 hoping things had been worked out, but while sensors does output temperatures, they are nonsensical. So no go for me at this point. By the way, I have this IONITX-A-U clocked at 667 MHz FSB, 600 MHz IGP, 1200 MHz shaders, and 900 MHz memory (at 2.1 V), very nice! |

I'm not worried about longevity. The GPU temp during 1080p playback is around 42 C, and the CPU temp stays in the 30s. Overclocking has really made this platform viable as a low power HTPC, running both mythtv front and backends flawlessly after ironing out a few quirks. |

This is promising, rc5 didn't make any sense but now I have rc6 installed, and after loading coretemp I get Code: $ sensors
coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +23.0°C (crit = +90.0°C) coretemp-isa-0001 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 1: +27.0°C (crit = +90.0°C) coretemp-isa-0002 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 2: +24.0°C (crit = +90.0°C) coretemp-isa-0003 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 3: +28.0°C (crit = +90.0°C) I need to compare sensors output with the BIOS numbers, but they look more reasonable. |
