Post subject:  apt-get dhcp3-server bind9

I've got a bit of a mythtv pilot program on dirt old hardware. One of my recent challenges has been apt breaking. I read someplace while doing research that we should stay away from apt as the repositories are experimental/unstable and could cause dep issues?

I want 3 things running on my mythBE/FE hybrid machine over and above the myth package

webmin: which knoppmyth has included so no problem there I just add it to the run level

isc dhcp server (dhcp3-server or dhcp4-server) and bind9

I keep bricking apt after trying to pull bind. Any suggestions?
Can I comment out all the sources and just put a temp line into the stable deb repository then do it? Then change it back when I'm done?

Thanks for the time.

Post subject:  Update - got it working

OK... I'm back in business just updating in case someone googled, found this thread and needed a resolution themselves.

for dhcp I simply went to isc pulled down dhcp3 (dhcp4 wouldn't go) and installed it from their source (./configure, make, make install)

for bind I tried to do the same with about 4 versions of bind9 to no avail

I ended up adding a debian 4.0 etch package repository based on the following link

http://packages.debian.org/etch/i386/bind/download

then apt-get update , apt-get install bind

then shazam I have an older version of bind installed. So now I'm happy
